Lately my friend has been calling me telling me that her family is bothering her alot about going to the Church of God World Mission Society. Her family claims that this church is a cult because it’s totally different from every other “Christian” church out there:
Church of God World Misson Society worships on saturday, the Sabbath as a memorial of the creator God and follow the command specified in the Bible (Gen. 2:1-3, Exo. 20:8-11, Mark 16:9,1-2); most churches worship on sunday, established by Constantine to honor the “sun” god.
COG WMS celebrates the Passover, receiving Jesus’ body and blood through bread and wine only once a year at the appointed time specified in the Bible (Lev. 23:4-5, Luke 22:7-20); all others keep Communion and take the bread and wine…well, really depending on the church, it varies.
COG WMS celebrates the yearly Feasts according to God’s commandment in the Bible based on the example of Jesus Christ, Our High Priest (Matt. 5:17, Heb. 7:11-12); all other churches celebrate Easter (from the goddess of fertility Ishtar), X-Mas (based on the sun god Mithra) “Thanksgiving” (based on American history concerning a deal with the pilgrims and Native Americans), and a whole host of man-made traditions.
COG WMS female members cover their heards during worship as is the teaching of Christ from the early church (1 Cor. 11:1-10); other churches do not enforce such a teaching, in fact men sometimes cover their heads in some churches today.
Church of God World Mission Society follows the teachings of the Bible while other churches follow traditions that have pagan roots. Since people are internet-happy, they should look up the origins of what their traditions are. So wait, who’s in a cult again?
